Emmerdale’s Mary Goskirk is set to hit our screens again soon for a major storyline after ‘disappearing’ for two months, actress Louise Jameson has confirmed.

After a dramatic year which saw Mary support daughter Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) as she discovered that ex-husband Gus had stolen her embryos and had a baby, Mary took a back seat over the summer.

‘They’ve given me such an easy summer, I can’t tell you,’ actress Louise joked to The Mirror.

‘She’s being the supportive grandmother in the background. I think she is looking after Ivy a lot backstage. She’s singing the baby to sleep,’ she added, but not before teasing more drama ahead for Mary.

‘Apparently November is really going to hot up.’

The character looks set to take front and centre once again in the coming months as she takes on a job behind the Woolpack bar – something Louise is thrilled about.

‘I sort out a couple of rows so the spiky Mary is on her way back. I was so pleased. When they say you are going to be behind the bar you think, you’re only there for a year and then every year you’re told it’s a year. When you are put behind the bar you think it might be a bit longer.’

However, that may not be all that Mary gets up to this autumn, as Louise previously teased a potential love story when she spoke to Metro at the Radio Times Soap Awards in July.

‘I know there’s a love life pending [for Mary], but I’m not quite sure who with or when. Watch this space!’

While we’re keen for Mary to get her happy ending after being unlucky in love since arriving in the village in 2022, Louise revealed to The Mirror that she’d prefer the opposite.

‘I don’t think I want her to settle down cos if she settles down, all the drama goes so another disaster is what I’d like.’

Mary is not Louise’s first soap role, with the actress having previously played 90s icon Rosa Di Marco in EastEnders.
