Russell T. Davies’ return to Doctor Who continues to make its mark as a new spinoff has been announced at San Diego Comic-Con, bringing back two forgotten stars from the Tennant era. Screen Rant was at the Doctor Who panel in San Diego, where new details of what is to come from this new expansion in the Doctor Who universe were revealed. Though filming is yet to begin for the series, the confirmed casting of two incredible British actors comes as one of the biggest movie and TV reveals of SDCC.
The upcoming Doctor Who spinoff will join an already impressive list of shows set in that universe. Since its revival in 2005, there have been three Doctor Who spin-offs. The darker and more adult Torchwood, starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles, and The Sarah Jane Adventures, which focused on beloved companion Sarah-Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen). Most recently, Class aired in 2016 and targeted a more young adult audience. Russell T.
